100 Years of Manor Gardens

For the past year or so I have had the privilege to work with community groups and events organised by Manor Gardens, a charity organisation based in Islington.

Nita Upadhyay is the Mental Wellbeing Champions Project Manager. A young and dynamic lady Nita has introduced me to several of the groups Manor Gardens champions for: the young mothers group, the Latin American and the Bengoli groups, among others.
The most amazing experience was to work with survivors that attend the stroke project, a group which meets twice a week.
Interacting with Dawn, Thomas, Steven, Sheila, Margareth, Victoria, Leslie, Emelia and Evelyn was a wide eyes opening since I never came across stroke survivors before. It was amazingly rewarding seeing their faces turning calmer, their shoulders falling softer and their chests breathing deeper at the warm contact exchanged.

Manor Gardens is celebrating its Centennary this year: I congratulate with the organization for the hard and successful work done to date and I send many wishes for the services to continue bringing better and happier lives to those living challenging situations.
